I’ll never forget the day that a college friend took the time to explain how to crochet a beanie!
I had only crocheted a couple of scarves but I was ready to learn how to make a hat.
I had no clue how to read patterns, so she just explained to me what I’m going to tell you in this video. And I ran with it.
I clearly remember that the yarn I used to crochet my first beanie was white with little blue flecks in it. Very cute but I doubt it exists anymore.
My first attempt to crochet the beanie turned out WAY too big so I had to frog it and start again.
But my second attempt worked and fit me perfectly. I was able to wear the blue and white beanie and look adorable for several years.
Until it met an untimely end involving melted chocolate inside my purse and a stain that was too massive to remove. That was a sad sad day.
Once I successfully made that first beanie, I was hooked (pun intended)!
I’ve made hundreds of hats. Maybe even over 1000 by now!
So, in this video I’m going to show you the basic blueprint for crocheting a beanie. And maybe you can take it, run with it and crochet 1000 hats of your own!
