Half double crochet is a really fun stitch. It’s one of the most basic stitches to learn and you’ll see it popping up in TONS of different crochet patterns. (Including one of mine that’s coming out soon, hint hint!)
Half double crochets are a little taller than single crochets but shorter than double crochets.
I created this video with crochet beginners in mind, so I demonstrate how to half double crochet very slowly.
I also explain how to turn and count your stitches so that you can create a rectangle or a square without dropping or adding extra stitches.
For absolute beginners
You’ll want to make sure that you have these two skills down before you watch this video and learn half double crochet.
In this video, I’m going to show you how to make a little practice swatch and nail your half double crochet so that you can use it whenever you like.
